Via Duomo

Via Duomo
Urban planning
Via Duomo, today the main artery of the Old City of Taranto, is undoubtedly one of the oldest streets in the City of the Two Seas. The archaeological investigations that have involved the area on several occasions have shown the presence of traces of much older roads below the current floor.
In fact, already in Greek times, the layout of what we now call "Via Duomo" was affected by the presence of a main road axis that almost completely cut the acropolis of the city. In subsequent eras, the street has not lost its importance, becoming a commercial center and place of view of the most important palaces of the Tarantine nobility.
