Municipal Theater Fusco

Theaters

The history of the Fusco cinema-theater in Taranto is more than a century long. A stage returned to the city after a long oblivion. The theater can hold up to 456 spectators and uses the most advanced technologies in terms of acoustics and scenography. Initially only a cinema hall - its origins date back to 1907, becoming one of the very first "cinema halls" in Italy made entirely of wood: so beautiful, so luxurious. The new structure was rebuilt in masonry and inaugurated at the end of 1928, when, with its new façade in art deco, it took the definitive name of "Cinema-theater Fusco".

The Fusco cinema-theater was purchased in December 2018 by the Municipality of Taranto, becoming public. After 14 long years of tribulations and vicissitudes, on 30 December 2019, the Fusco Theater was inaugurated by the current Melucci Administration, becoming the first municipal theater in the history of the city.
