2023 Italian SailGp - Taranto

Mar Grande Taranto

Via Ciro Giovinazzi, 49

from 23/09/2023 to 24/09/2023

SailGP returns to Taranto for the second time! After the success of the 2021 edition of the Italian SailGP, in 2023 the World Championship of sailing on F50 catamarans will return to the City of the Two Seas for the Italian leg of the world championship.

SailGP will land again in Taranto also with the aim of launching the collective challenge for the future of the planet. Through the #raceforthefuture program, SailGP is the first sports organization that produces events with a positive climate impact, offsetting more than the carbon footprint produced for the realization of the championship, defending a world fueled by nature with the ultimate goal of accelerating the transition to clean energy.

2021 Edition

Taranto, in the heart of Puglia, a sea capital with a thousand-year history, hosted the second event of SailGP Season 2 and the first ever Italy Sail Grand Prix on 5 and 6 June 2021.
The best athletes in the category competed aboard the very fast F50 catamarans, equipped with foil technology that allows the hulls to “fly” over the crystalline waters of the “Mar Grande” at incredible speeds of almost 50 knots (about 100 km / h). The eight nations - representing Australia, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Japan, Spain, New Zealand and the United States - and their international teams met in one of the most impressive events in the championship. An exciting race between identical boats where the skill of the athletes makes the difference and guarantees maximum adrenaline.
